The mother of the 38-year-old man who was shot and killed in Bed-Stuy Thursday evening spoke to News 12 for the first time since the homicide.
"There was never a dull moment with him," Nancy Dawson said. "He was live, very live."
The NYPD has not yet confirmed the victim's identity, but Dawson says his name Ikim Green - a man her kids love dearly.
Dawson says her kids are out of state on vacation, and that when they return, she's not quite sure how to share the devastating loss.
"I'm honestly a little scared of even telling them of this news," she said with a sigh.
Newly obtained surveillance video shows a man wearing all black, fleeing from the scene moments after the shooting. Police say they are not yet sure of a motive, while local residents are still shocked.
"It just made me really, like, terrified," said Abdulmalik Bukhar, an eyewitness who saw Green unconscious on the floor from his third-floor window." I couldn't go to sleep early."
