Role models came together this Father's Day to shine a light on the well-being of children in the community.
Gathering as many dads, grandfathers and uncles as possible, the group of nearly 100 men and women marched down Sutter Avenue to Robert Venable Park to call for an end to violence.
The three-mile march is part of an event called "Daddy's Home," and is the first Father's Day Mental Health Walk Against Violence.
The walk was started by nonprofit group Man Up to spread awareness of violence and let people know there are plenty of dads who care for the safety of their children.
One father and uncle sported pins with PJ Avitto's picture on them. The 6-year-old was fatally stabbed a couple of weeks ago in an East New York elevator.
PJ's father, Nicholas Avitto, says his son was actually born on Father's Day, and was his gift at the time.
Organizers say they plan on doing similar walks every Father's Day in the future, but will choose different streets so they can reach the entire borough.
