An excavator crashed into the second floor of a Bed-Stuy apartment Friday afternoon.
Witnesses say workers were demolishing a building at 726 Monroe St. when the excavator fell onto its side and crashed into a second-floor bedroom.
Ameya Reynolds, 13, was in the bedroom taking a nap when she says she heard a loud noise and woke up to find the wall caving in.
Workers brought in a second crane to lift the excavator upright.
Three families live in the building and everyone was evacuated, and will not be able to return until the Department of Buildings deems the building safe.
The construction site, however, has been hit with a stop work order and has been deemed unsafe. It is unclear as to when the construction will be able to continue.
No one was injured in the accident.
