About 200 firefighters battled flames at a church in East Williamsburg that spread through the building during an Easter Sunday service.
FDNY officials said there were about 150 people inside Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii Church when it ignited.
During the incident, a firefighter fell through a fire-damaged floor, but was uninjured and rejoined the effort.
“It just shows the bravery of all our men,” said First Deputy Fire Commissioner Joseph Pfeifer.
Officials said three civilians and three firefighters had minor injuries. They also said that the main church area was not affected by the fire but may have water damage.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known and is under investigation.
