The FDNY is remembering Alexander Griffin, a firefighter candidate whose dream was to join the FDNY.
Griffin died after collapsing during a training exercise last week on Randall's Island, according to FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh, who added that the agency is looking at their current training processes to ensure that they are as safe as possible.
"They're seeing how dangerous this job is and while they know it, it can be much more shocking to see up close and personal," said Kavanaugh.
The commissioner did not specify what caused the medical emergency and says the department is committed to supporting the family.
