Firefighters responded to an overnight house fire in East New York.
The FDNY say the fire took place at 133 Weldon St. and started at around 1:45 a.m. on the first and second floors of the building.
According to fire officials, the fire has been placed under control. No injuries were reported.
Neighbors in the area told News 12 the house was vacant. A complaint was filed in September 2022 for a vacant private dwelling that was open and unguarded with squatters coming and going as well as trash accumulation outside. Neighbors say they weren’t surprised when they saw flames shooting out of the house overnight.
The fire comes one day after another fire in the area claimed the lives of two people and left several children in critical condition.
The cause has yet to be determined.
