A FEMA disaster assistance center opened in Brooklyn Wednesday to help victims of an August 8 tornado.
Residents, business owners and renters can now speak with federal agents about concerns ranging from insurance to reimbursement. The center also allows tornado victims to interact with representatives from the Red Cross, charities and other agencies.
The center is open at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 552 59th St. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The tornado, the first to hit Brooklyn in more than a century, caused almost $500,000 worth of damage and ruined hundreds of structures.
