The first New York Festival of Light kicked off Thursday evening in DUMBO.
Lighting designers and performance artists have been setting up installations all week under the Manhattan Bridge and in Pearl Street Triangle.
"We're bringing together artists from all over the world to show light in projection, sculpture, in different ways, different avenues of light," says Ira Levy, the festival's co-founder.
The festival's centerpiece is an illumination of the Manhattan Bridge in glowing light.
"I think it's cool to see the bridge converted in so many different ways, and not to see the same thing over and over again," says Abby Aruel, of Brooklyn.
The festival runs through Saturday. It is free and open to all ages.
