A fire broke out Friday at a historically landmarked church that also has a child care center, but luckily no one was inside. Fire officials arrived at the Presbyterian Memorial Church in Park Slope around 6:30 a.m. and battled the blaze on the first and second floor and the attic. Officials say there doesn't appear to be any significant damage to the building, but residents add that any damage to the historic church would be a loss.Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, although there are reports it could have been caused by a heating system. With temperatures getting colder, fire officials are advising Brooklyn residents with space heaters to keep them away from objects or materials that are possibly flammable.
