Fire forces evacuation of Bayview Avenue apartment building; no injuries

One neighbor tells News 12 she knocked on the doors of other residents to wake them so they could evacuate.

A fire broke out in a bedroom in apartment 7C at 3178 Bayview Ave. in Brooklyn Sunday morning forcing residents to evacuate. 
Some residents tell News 12 they woke up to the smell of smoke. 
When firefighters arrived, they had a difficult time getting into the apartment. Once they were inside, firefighters were able to knock out the fire before it spread.  
One neighbor tells News 12 she knocked on the doors of other residents to wake them so they could evacuate.  
Another neighbor says she realized water leaking from the ceiling in her apartment was from the water firefighters were using to put the fire out. 
FDNY tells News 12 there are no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
