Fire officials: 4 hospitalized in 2-alarm Williamsburg fire

Firefighters were able to rescue residents through the building’s fire escapes.

Four people were transported to the hospital as firefighters put out a two-alarm fire in Williamsburg.
Fire officials told News 12 that the fire erupted around 7:30 a.m. from a second-floor apartment at 227 South Second St.
Neighbors say they heard people screaming repeatedly and ran for safety. Around 100 firefighters responded and put out the flames in 15 minutes, fire officials say.
They were able to rescue residents through the building’s fire escapes.
Fire officials are searching for what could have sparked the blaze.
