Fire officials: Brownsville apartment fire injures 12 people, 1 critical

While this fire impacted several families, the Red Cross says at least three of them were able to return to their apartments.

A Brownsville building fire has left 12 people injured with one person in critical condition Wednesday, according to the FDNY.
Fire officials say the incident happened on the fourth floor of the Langston Hughes Houses on Sutter Avenue just before 10 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they raced up the steps to rescue someone who was trapped.
Once the fire was out, 11 people were taken to hospitals to be treated for minor injuries. One person is in critical condition.

It's not clear just how extensive the damage is or how the fire started.
