Four firefighters were injured in a Borough Park synagogue fire Monday afternoon. The firefighters sustained minor injuries while fighting the flames that destroyed six rooms on two floors. The fire broke out in the synagogue?s school. Despite the extensive damage, the synagogue itself remains usable. Services there will continue, though students will be moved to another facility. One-hundred people were evacuated from the building, located at 50th Street, after reports of the fire came in at 1:15 p.m. Members of the synagogue believe electrical problems are to blame. When they turned on the air conditioning, they say flames came out of the unit.
