Six firefighters and two dozen other people were injured when a fire truck collided with a B15 bus Tuesday morning in Brownsville.
The accident happened just before 11 a.m. at Mother Gaston Boulevard and Hegeman Avenue as the truck was on its way to put out a car fire.
Officials say six firefighters, 22 bus passengers, the bus driver and one pedestrian were taken to various hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision left the door of the fire truck completely ripped off and the front section of the bus smashed in.
Fire and police officials, who arrived to investigate the incident, cordoned off the scene of the crash, causing heavy traffic delays on surrounding roads.
