Firefighters rushed to the scene of a two-alarm fire at New York Methodist Hospital in Park Slope Saturday morning.
According to officials, the blaze started just after 11 a.m. at the Sixth Street building.
About 60 patients were evacuated as firefighters responded to the report of a basement fire.
FDNY officials say they believe the fire began in a basement utility closet where a torch was being used for maintenance.
Smoke rose as high as the building's eighth floor, witnesses say.
No injuries have been reported. The hospital has since resumed operations.
The investigation is ongoing.
