A crash involving a Walmart truck and a vehicle sent two people to the hospital Wednesday in Millstone.

Firefighters from the Millstone Township Fire Department responded to the area of Monmouth Road and Burnt Tavern Road around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a vehicle under a tractor-trailer. When they arrived, they found the heavily damaged vehicle under the truck with two people trapped.

In a post on social media, firefighters said crews worked to extricate the two victims from the vehicle. Fire department EMTs then transported two people to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The cause of the crash and the condition of the victims is unknown.

The fire department also expressed appreciation for the mutual aid provided by neighboring towns while they were at the scene of the crash.

“During this incident, a utility pole fire was handled by our neighbors from Manalapan Township Fire Company 1 and Freehold Township Independent Fire Company #1,” firefighters said. “Yet another example of the mutual aid system at work.”
