A 24-hour car wash went up in flames overnight in Kensington, sending two firefighters to the hospital.
Officials say the fire started around 1:30 a.m. at the Hollywood Car Wash on Coney Island Avenue. It's not clear how the fire started, but it tore through the building and front façade was completely torn down from the top of the building. The sidewalk was covered with debris.
The fire eventually reached two alarms and was put out at around 3:30 a.m. Employees of the car wash say they were inside at the time and heard what sounded like a small explosion.
The cause is still under investigation, but the employees believe it may have been electrical.
The FDNY says two firefighters were rushed to a hospital with minor injuries. No one else was hurt.
