Fire officials are investigating a blaze in East New York that caused a mother to jump out of a window with her children Wednesday.
A fire chief said the fire started around 5:15 a.m. at 393 Bradford St. A 37-year-old mother of three jumped with her kids out of their second-floor window, officials said. The woman suffered injuries when she fell on a table outside.
The fire chief called the blaze suspicious, saying it was concentrated in a stairwell. Firefighters credit a firewall with containing the flames.
The Red Cross is helping the family. Neighbors say the fire victims had only lived in the apartment a few months.
