Some might feel that Amor "'Lil Man" Arteaga, 11, is too young to rap about socially conscious issues, but he is doing his best to prove naysayers wrong.
A day at the playground can turn into a performance for Amor. He has a powerful message that goes beyond his age and he is ready to share it.
"What's going on with all these killings? What's going on? Children killing children," Amor raps in his latest song. He also sports a T-shirt that reads, "Don't shoot. I want to grow up."
Local leaders are taking notice of Amor, whose love of hip-hop started early and blossomed.
"When I was 7, I used to love rapping," he says. "As I progressed, it made me feel good and happy inside."
Amor says he wants other children to explore their own talents and to break the cycle of violence that might plague their own communities.
