Some Flatbush residents gathered Monday to make their voices heard outside of Brooklyn Housing Court as they continue to pursue legal action against their landlord.
The tenants who live at 1834 Caton Ave. are suing their landlord after years of living with what they are calling dangerous living conditions. Tenants documented broken elevators, water shut-offs, cockroaches and rodent infestations.
They say when they reach their landlord, the repairs are not done properly. They have since formed a tenant's union to fight for better conditions.
According to the Department of Housing's website, the building has more than 900 complaints on record from the last two years as well as 284 open violations. The property's landlord, Jonathan Samet, also earned a spot on the NYC Public Advocates Worst Landlord Watch List in 2022.
News 12 reached out to the landlord but did not hear back.
