As the old saying goes, when one door closes, another door opens.
Fontbonne Academy is expanding its high school to offer a middle school education as well.
This comes after Visitation, an all girls Catholic middle school in the borough announced that it would close its doors for the upcoming school year.
Fontbonne Principal Rocco Gentile says the blend for these two schools is natural, with similar values surrounding rigorous academics, community building and sisterhood.
He says he believes the Visitation students will fit in perfectly with Fontbonne students.
The school is welcoming around 35 girls from Visitation, though their middle school program is not limited to Visitation students. Girls in all five boroughs are welcome to apply for the middle school.
The first full day of high school and middle school at Fontbonne academy is on Monday.
