Here are New Year's schedule changes for subways, LIRR, Metro-North, NJ Transit

Mass transit across the tri-state will offer special schedules for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Here is what you need to know:

SUBWAYS

New York City subways will have a regular schedule with increased New Year’s Eve service past midnight on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, C, D, G, L, N, Q, R and 42 Street lines. The A train will also be running express until 2:30 a.m.

Subways will run on a Sunday schedule for New Year's Day.

New Year's Eve bus routes in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan will operate on a reduced weekday schedule.

Those traveling by bus on New Year's Day are urged to plan ahead, as buses in all five boroughs will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Access-A-Ride will operate 24/7 on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Officials say people who need to request a ride should be mindful of holiday traffic, as well as alternate pickup and drop-off locations amid the holiday celebrations.

LIRR

The Long Island Rail Road will include 11 additional trains for New Year's Eve on the Babylon, Montauk, Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Port Washington branches to Grand Central Madison or Penn Station.

Enhanced service will begin early in the evening to accommodate riders heading to the New York City for events.

From Dec. 29 to 30 and Jan. 2, Metro-North will operate on a Friday schedule on the three East Hudson lines, with extra midday and mid-afternoon service.

METRO-NORTH

Metro-North will also have a special weekday schedule with extra late-evening and post-midnight service on New Year’s Eve into New Year’s morning.

Hourly service will be active on the Hudson and Harlem lines on New Year’s Day, with extra trains on the New Haven line, and regular weekend service on the Wassaic, New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury branches.

On the West of Hudson, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines, Metro-North will operate on a regular weekday schedule Dec. 29-30. It will operate a regular weekday schedule on New Year's Eve, with extra service in the late evening and after midnight, and a weekend schedule on New Year’s Day.

NJ TRANSIT

On New Year's Eve, NEC and NJCL trains will operate on a modified weekday schedule with additional late morning trains on both lines. Certain NEC and NJCL morning rush-hour trains will be canceled.

From late Wednesday afternoon through evening, extra service to New York/Hoboken will operate on the RVL, M&E and Port Jervis lines.

Overnight Dec. 31 will see extra service from PSNY/Hoboken with connecting service at Newark Broad Street/Summit/Long Branch. Certain trains that normally operate between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. will be canceled.

After 6:30 a.m. on New Year's Day, train service will follow a regular weekend/major holiday schedule (with Port Jervis Line Train 88 operating).

PATH

The 9th and 23rd street stations will operate 24/7 from New Year's Eve until overnight closures resume at 11:59 p.m. Jan. 5.

PATH will be on a modified Saturday schedule on New Year's Day.

NY WATERWAYS

NY Waterways will be on a modified schedule Wednesday and Thursday. Normal schedules will resume on Friday.

Children under 12 ride the ferry free until Jan. 4.

NY Waterway will operate on a modified schedule on Wednesday, December 31 and Thursday, January 1. Normal weekday and weekend service will resume on Friday, January 2.

Reminder: Kids under age 12 ride the ferry free for the holidays through January 4.
