Brooklyn residents who struggled with substance abuse in the past are now counseling others who are working to fight the addiction.
The Resource Training Center or "School for Survivors" supplies those recovering from addictions a positive outlook for the future. Former drug addicts teach students, generally around 40-years old, job preparation, resume writing, and interview skills. Most students work to become a full-time counselor at the center as well as to acquire their GED or high school diploma.
The school's success is displayed over it's 14-year presence in Brooklyn. Beginning with only six students, the school now has 100 students and over 1,500 graduates.
