A former state Supreme Court judge in Brooklyn - who accepted cigars and other expensive gifts in exchange for helping fix divorce cases - was sentenced Tuesday to three to 10 years in prison.
Gerald Garson was convicted of receiving bribes and accepting rewards for official misconduct but acquitted on four lesser counts. His crimes were captured on hidden-camera videos made in his chambers.
Hours earlier, the former head of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, Clarence Norman, Junior, was convicted of grand larceny in a scheme to shake down a judicial candidate, and was sentenced to two to six years in prison. The head of each borough's leading political party usually selects judges behind closed doors.
