Former Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes is being accused of improperly using campaign funds.
According to the New York Times, the city's Department of Investigation claims that Hynes used money seized from drug dealers and criminal defendants to pay for a political consultant.
The paper reports that the consultant was paid more than $200,000 for his unsuccessful re-election campaign last year.
The veteran prosecutor could now face larceny charges.
