A minor league baseball team has released former James Monroe High School pitcher Danny Almonte, dashing his MLB hopes.
The Southern Illinois Miners of the Independent Frontier League recently released Almonte after he went 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA in six appearances.
Almonte pitched perfect games in the 2001 Little League World Series, but was later exposed as being two years too old to play. He went on to lead James Monroe High School to two PSAL championships.
