A former nurse and breast cancer survivor is now helping others look and feel beautiful inside and out by opening a medispa in Crown Heights.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the doors of L'Elite Medispa was held on Saturday.

Owner Richina Lukes-Milledge said she told herself nothing was going to hold her back, not even a breast cancer diagnosis.

After beating breast cancer, she knew it was time to turn her nursing career into something even more meaningful by opening a medispa.

"I saved lives in the hospital, working in the ER, working in the ICU, but I really save lives in a different level in the medispa because people are experiencing what I did experiencing, which is losing their hair, their self-esteem is low, and you just don't feel good," Lukes-Milledge said.

Her services range from vitamin infusions to facials, and even body contouring--services to improve wellness and enhance natural beauty but also put the emphasis on health.

Councilmember Farah Louis was one of many at the grand opening to show her support.

"The most important part is educating the community on the needs to do a holistic look at internal and external," Louis said. “We don't just do things on the outside, we want to make sure that your inside is healthy also, so that you can really have beauty from the inside out.”
