Former Rep. Max Rose announced Sunday that he will not be running for mayor of New York City this year.

"I urge every candidate to recognize that across the five boroughs no one believes that City Hall is on the side of the working class," he said in a statement.

Rose previously represented New York's 11th Congressional District.

He had announced last month that he was exploring a mayoral run.
