A 30-year-old Fort Greene resident is preparing to run the New York City Marathon next month after having had brain surgery just a year ago.
Danielle Hacet has been running for several years, but after starting to experience partial seizures in 2012, she was forced to stop.
Hacet developed bacterial meningitis when she was six months old, leaving her hearing impaired. Doctors believe the meningitis is also what caused her heath issues when she was 26.
After the partial seizures, Hacet said she tried five medications in a three-year period to no avail. Her only option was to have brain surgery.
Hacet had the surgery last July, and six months later was back running again.
The race will be Hacet's second time running in the New York City Marathon.
