A group of Fort Greene residents have launched a campaign to make Lafayette Avenue safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
The group wants to slow down drivers by adding bike lanes and have so far collected more than 1,600 signatures that it will present to the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Organizers of the petition say the DOT has told them if they get enough community support, then a bike lane could possibly be installed.
