Fort Greene festival kicks off weekend of music, expression
Brooklyn’s Afropunk Festival kicked off Saturday, marking its 13th year since starting as a small, free local concert.
While Afropunk has grown from a small event to a two-day festival, the theme of individuality and expression has remained the same.
The festival originated in 2005 and has exploded with satellite events all over the world.
This year’s sold-out festival features a lineup of artists including Solange, Macy Gray and The Cool Kids. More than 70,000 people are expected to attend.
