Friends of a woman who allegedly mowed down a family in Flatbush and killed a child is coming to her defense.
Paul Tirone says he is sure Bertilde Gabriel, 52, did not intentionally kill 5-year-old Christopher Frombrum last Wednesday when her SUV jumped the curb on Flatbush Avenue. The child?s two siblings and mother were also injured while walking to school.
A defense attorney says medical issues, along with rainy weather, anxiety and the fact that Gabriel was involved in a car collision moments earlier led to the deadly accident. The defense also says Gabriel was seen clutching her chest after the crash. However, prosecutors believe Gabriel jumped the curb while trying to flee the car accident. Friends say Gabriel has a license and insurance, so there was no reason for her to run. She is being held on $250,000 bail.
