Pi Day is March 14, and residents are using it as an excuse to eat pies at places like the Pie Corps in Greenpoint.
The unofficial holiday is based on the resemblance between the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, which rounds to 3.14, and the numerical significance of the day, 3/14.
Pie Corps is offering deals on its products to celebrate, with many prices as close to 3.14 as possible.
The pie shop has its bakers work within full view of the public, but the bakers say that's something they're happy about too.
"We get to see sunshine while we're baking," says Pie Corps' Daniel Karpan. "Normally, you're stuffed away in a basement somewhere."
