Mourners attended funeral services Tuesday for a Brooklyn man killed in the terror attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, earlier this month.
Enrique Rios was celebrating a friend's birthday at the Pulse nightclub when a gunman opened fire on June 12. Rios was among 49 people killed, and more than 50 were wounded.
His family says he is originally from Brooklyn and lived in the Marcy Houses. He was a social worker.
He attended the Cathedral of Grater Free Gift Baptist Church on Stockton Street in Bed-Stuy, which hosted the service.
Rios' mother, Gertrude Merced, stressed the need for forgiveness.
"We don't always have to be so angry," she said. "We don't always have to retaliate."
Along with many other mourners, she wore purple -- Rios' favorite color.
