Family members gathered Sunday at the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church to honor and remember a 65-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run.
Police say Dorothy Parker was struck as she crossed Remsen Avenue in Canarsie on April 9 at 10 p.m.
Officials say that the vehicle that hit her was a four-door silver Honda Accord. The car paused for a moment halfway down the block after hitting Parker but then kept going.
Parker's daughter and niece say it's been a difficult period, but their close-knit community and faith are helping them.
Police say they are still investigating the hit-and-run and trying to find the owner of the vehicle.
