The NYPD made history Wednesday by swearing in four K-9s to serve as emotional support animals in its employee assistance unit.
The animals will support both members of the service and the community.
A sergeant, two detectives and a police officer joined in on the two-week training at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.
The group worked alongside female prisoners who worked with the dogs since they were puppies.
