A corrections officer from Galloway was charged for smuggling drugs and
cellphones into the jail he worked at.
Luis Mercado worked as a corrections officer at Atlantic Justice
Facility in Mays Landing.
The county prosecutor says Mercado smuggled contraband into jail to
"further a criminal organization."
Mercado is charged with second-degree misconduct.
