Tenants at 828 Courtlandt Ave. say they're unsure when they'll be allowed back into their homes after a fire cut off their gas, electricity and hot water. The building has been vacant since Monday, when a basement fire forced residents to temporarily move down the street into a hotel. However, they say all of their belongings are still inside. Officials with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development say a lack of essential services is the reason for the evacuation. The building's management company, New York Management, says it is individually working with each resident to find a solution.
