?Gentleman? Joe Menchetti was top dog in the 2nd Annual Schnak?s Stahl-Meyer 30-inch hot dog eating contest in Red Hook Monday.
Menchetti, a professional eater, devoured the two-and-a-half-foot long frankfurter and bun in just under two minutes to win the $500 grand prize. The repeat champion says he doesn't practice by eating, but by almost always chewing gum. Third-place finisher Chris Schlesinger says he water trains by drinking a gallon of water as fast as possible, which he says expands the stomach.
Brooklyn?s most popular eating contest, the Nathan?s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, is scheduled for it's 91st installment this summer in Coney Island.
