A 14-year-old Crown Heights girl is in police custody after detectives found a dead baby in a courtyard Saturday.
Police say the girl went to the hospital complaining about abdominal pain, but doctors discovered she had recently given birth. Detectives went to her home at 572 Ralph Ave., where they eventually found the body of a newborn boy between two buildings. Authorities say they believe the baby may have been thrown from a third-floor window. The teenager has not been charged, but is being questioned.
Neighbors say they blame the girl's parents for not managing the situation better. They also say it's sad that the teenager didn't just leave her baby at a church that is near her home.
