Girlfriend charged in death of woman found near Sprain Brook Parkway in 2012

The girlfriend of a young woman, whose body was found in Yonkers 10 years ago, has been charged with second-degree murder.
Pamela Graddick, 26, was found fatally shot near the Sprain Brook Parkway in August 2012. Graddick’s girlfriend Wanda Veguilla is accused in her death.
Detectives say Graddick's body was found about one month after she was killed, which set up a slew of challenges. However, the victim's cellphone broke the case open a decade later. Detectives say it was found with Veguilla, who ultimately confessed.
Graddick's family says justice was served, but the path to healing is still a long road ahead.
"I'm happy that she was arrested, but it doesn't bring Pamela back,” says Graddick’s sister Tawanna Mcclellan.
Detective John Geiss, of the Yonkers Police Cold Case Unit, has been on this case since the day one. He pushed his retirement back several months to fulfill the promise he gave to Graddick's family that he and his team will close the case before he leaves.
Veguilla is remanded to the Westchester County Correctional Facility as she awaits her next virtual court appearance.
Police say they're currently looking into a possible second suspect.
