Glen Cove High School held a welcome home celebration for Shye Roberts.

Roberts is one of the contestants on the hit show "The Voice"

The 18-year-old singing phenom spent her formative years honing her talents at Glen Cove High School.

Roberts says her school community helped to inspired her to go for her dreams.

"I love Long Island, overall, I feel it gave me the power and motivation to go for "The Voice" explained Roberts.

Roberts is now trying to make the semifinals and then the live finale, which takes place next month.
