Organizers say over 70,000 Pokémon Go players will be arriving in the city to celebrate the game.
About 80% of those players, according to event organizers, will be traveling from out of town.
Players will have opportunities this weekend to test their mettle against trainers from around the world. They can also build new teams and compete for prizes at the Battle Ground. The event will feature photo opportunities with popular characters, including Pikachu and Eevee, as well as plenty of merchandise.
Pokémon became popular back in the 1990s, but the phenomenon reached new heights in 2016 with the release of Pokémon Go. The free mobile game uses GPS to make Pokémon appear around the player. Players then catch the Pokémon from all over the world as well as battle other players.
Tickets for Saturday are sold out, but Friday and Sunday tickets are still available.
