Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office is launching a new citywide campaign against synthetic marijuana, also known as K2.
A new PSA, along with a variety of ads, will run in New York City subways mainly in Brooklyn. They will also run in the Bronx and Queens, where the governor says there's been a recent rise in the use of synthetic marijuana.
Dozens in Bed-Stuy were rushed to the hospital over the summer after overdosing on the drug. Witnesses reported seeing victims lying on the sidewalk shaking, and leaning against trees and fire hydrants.
Several bodegas were raided, including Big Boy Deli at the intersection of Broadway and Myrtle Avenue. And while authorities say no traces of K2 were recovered, someone claimed that he bought K2 there on previous occasions.
People who live in the area say police have since been cracking down with a large presence there, and they say they're appreciative of all the efforts being made.
