The MTA subway system has set a new weekend ridership record, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The governor says that commuters swiped their MetroCards over 2,700 times on Saturday, the highest weekend total since 2020.
MTA officials say the record weekend ridership was driven by OMNY, the contactless fare option. They say that OMNY now makes up 50% of all paid subway rides.
