Gov. Hochul signs bill to increase NYC red-light cameras from 150 to 600

Gov. Hochul said last year, in New York City red-light runners killed 29 people, all of those incidents occurred at intersections without these types of cameras.

A new bill signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul today looks to increase the number of red-light cameras across New York City.

The bill looks to quadruple the number of red-light cameras at intersections, going from 150 to 600 cameras. Gov. Hochul said last year, in New York City red-light runners killed 29 people, all of those incidents occurred at intersections without these types of cameras.

The bill is one of 11 signed into law today. Another bill looks to increase school bus violations to keep children safe.
