A Hudson Valley man has been formally charged in the killing of a mother in Ulster County.

A grand jury indicted Michael Carman in the death of his girlfriend, 28-year-old Nicole Perez, who was found dead last month in Ellenville, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office says.

Prosecutors say Carman killed Perez while her two daughters were sleeping in the next room.

Authorities say Carman fled New York after the killing and was later arrested in Florida.

Officials have not said how Perez was killed.

Her two children are 6 and 9 years old, prosecutors say.
