A Greenpoint park that has been neglected for years is finally getting a much-needed makeover.
Residents say McGolorick Park needs an upgrade and that they are glad that the city is finally listening.
City officials will give $2 million to completely renovate the park. Workers will replace the rusty equipment, fix the sprinklers, plant flowers and prune the overgrown grass.
The Parks Department says it is still in the planning process and will share a more complete redesign plan with the community later in the year.
A parkgoer tells News 12 that a greater police presence is also needed in the area. The woman says that the park feels unsafe due to teen vandalism and homelessness.
