Greenpoint sinkhole causes concern among drivers and residents

A sinkhole on Humboldt Street in Greenpoint has been causing concern among drivers and residents since Wednesday, when Osvaldo Bianchi says he first noticed it.
Bianchi says a neighbor put a trash can near it and eventually a cone to alert drivers.
“So we actually had another issue here which is another sinkhole issue type thing. We just noticed on the road and I was worried for bikers or cars someone could fall in it’s pretty deep. It’s pretty deep and it’s getting worse," said Bianchi.

"It's a problem even a possibility a little kid could fall in crossing the street if the mother isn't watching them. It's very dangerous, especially at night," said John Raszkiewicz.
Residents tell News 12 they saw crews come to check on it earlier on Friday, but the sinkhole was still there.
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection tells News 12 it is working on restoring the area and making it safe.
