One organization wants to expand the teaching of computer science at a Brooklyn school.
A check for $10,000 was donated by the Hour of Code Campaign to the Fort Greene Preparatory Academy on Tuesday.
The program's goal is to introduce computer science to children around the world.
"It's not about learning one particular computer language," says Hadi Partovi, of Hour of Code. "It's more about understanding how technology works, how it's going to change our lives and how to participate as a producer or creator of technology."
The Hour of Code class typically lasts one hour at schools, teaching students how to program software.
At Fort Greene, students already have a computer science curriculum where they learn coding as part of their technology education.
